What is the Census?
The Census is probably the single most important database that we hold, in that it is:
| the only 100% survey of the population and its characteristics; | |
| the only dataset to provide comprehensive information at both Highland and small area level. |
It is an enormous dataset and is being released in a number of stages. We have focused on data for Highland specifically, providing detailed factsheets at local geographical level which can be accessed via the links above. We will be adding more data over the forthcoming months.
The Census results for all of Scotland are available via the SCROL (Scottish Census Results On-Line) website. This allows you to access a wide range of Census data for the whole of the country.
