Issued: 15 June 2005 Use: Immediate SUMMER BROCHURE LAUNCHED On Tuesday (14 June) in Gairloch Primary School, 45 children took part in an African drumming session with tutor Steven Sharpe to launch this year’s Summer Activities Brochure from Ross and Cromarty’s Education, Culture and Sport Service. Joining in the fun were councillors Roy Macintyre, Jean Urquhart and Isobel McCallum.
Adults can have just as much fun as the children this summer with activities such as basket making for beginners and a mixed media course. Why not take part in a rag rug weekend in the Black Isle or a fun packed canoeing day? For the children, and back by popular demand, the performance week provides a fun packed week of drama, music and movement, with a performance at the end of the week for family and friends to enjoy. Join silk painter Heather Butlin and as a group create a colourful and eye-catching banner to be displayed in Dingwall Leisure Centre. If it’s quality time with the family you’re looking for, why not join one of the story walks taking place in various venues in the area or participate in a fun filled canoeing session. Make new friends and have fun participating in a wide array of activities which will keep both adults and children entertained for the summer weeks. The programme gets going on Saturday 2nd July, in Evanton, with
Bronze Age Pots for Tots and Celtic Mask Making. A wide variety of activities
ranging from stained glass painting to learning about the Vikings are included
in the programme as well as various sports activities.
